Buzzy Bees
Our Buzzy Bees project, launched in June 2026, educates children in Devon and Somerset about the importance of bees, and delivers in-person activities across state-funded schools, which directly help bees to survive and thrive.
This includes a tailored assembly delivered in-person by Little Green Change, which focuses on the importance of bees to food production, human health, and a healthy ecosystem; the many different types of bee in the UK
(bumblebees; solitary bees including leafcutter, mining and mason bees; and the honeybee), and how we can all help these important pollinating insects.
This is then followed by a bee-friendly activity. Choices include the creation of a pollination patch (either in a grassy area or in pots), OR the creation of a small bee hotel for your school grounds and the completion of 'We Love Bees' posters with one of your classes.
Around 75% of crop plants, including fruit and vegetables, require some degree of pollination, with bees being the most important insect for this.
We provide all the plants, materials, equipment and knowledge needed - you provide the little helpers (ideal for key stage 2 primary children).
This activity can also be delivered in secondary schools.
