We would like to thank the organisations listed for financially supporting our environmental education projects below, enabling us to offer these to state-funded schools and communities for free.
Climate Resilient Schools
Funded by Dorset Council in 2025 and early 2026, Little Green Change’s Climate Resilient Schools project helped state-funded schools in West Dorset to adapt and plan for the future using our expertise and knowledge.
Working with Little Green Change, the children learnt about climate change and the many impacts this has on humans and nature, as well as empowering them to implement positive, practical changes that help reduce these impacts within their school grounds. These covered key areas including biodiversity, travel, water and energy.
School improvements included changes to retain heat in the winter and minimise the heat of the sun in the summer, rain water harvesting, a bike rack, tree planting to soak up rain water and provide school grown fruit, and the introduction of new wildlife habitats and additional pollen-rich planting.
Seedlings Grow Your Greens
Funded in 2024 by Devon County Council's Growing Communities Fund, Little Green Change's Seedlings Grow Your Greens project targeted children aged 5-13 both in an East Devon school and across the local community at Axminster Library and Uplyme Village Fete, promoting the health, economic and environmental benefits of growing your own food, and enabling children to take part in food growing activities organised by us.
At Axminster Community Primary School, 69 children across Years 1-5 learnt about growing vegetables, fruit and herbs. They also helped to weed the beds and plant a variety of seeds and plants including carrots, sweetcorn, tomatoes, peas, thornless blackberries, whitecurrents, chamomile, garden mint and sunflowers. The children also learnt about the importance of insects in a healthy ecosystem, homemade plant feed, and more. 9 weeks later and they were already getting an edible crop.
Hedgerows

in 2024, Little Green Change worked with Dorset Climate Action Network (Dorset CAN) to engage local schools, community groups and residents in hedgerow surveying in Lyme Regis, as part of Dorset CAN’s Great Big Dorset Hedge project.
Funded by Lyme Regis Town Council, Little Green Change organised hedgerow surveying sessions for local residents (community sessions) and children. We also created and delivered a new assembly for St Michael’s CE VA Primary School, The Woodroffe School, and the Lyme Regis Scouts group.
Feedback included, “[I learnt] more about the types of trees, habitats, importance of hedgerows in urban areas linking to the countryside....very informative.” - Kate R, local resident; “[I learnt about] different types of hedges, and the heights and width of hedges. It was very interesting.” - Amber, The Woodroffe School student; and "[I learnt] that hedgerows can help climate change and soil erosion." - Aliana, Cubs.
