We provide environmental education and opportunities for primary and secondary-aged children, both directly in schools and in communities across the UK.
Our aim is to inspire, educate, and facilitate action, benefitting both the planet and people. We do this through our educational Schools Programme, expert speaker talks, assemblies, environmental projects, annual magazine, and tailored work experience weeks.
Schools Programme
Our Schools Programme has lessons and resources aimed at Key Stages 3 to 5, and is perfect for after-school, lunchtime and school holiday eco clubs.
We have a wide range of modules covering different environmental topics, with all resources being offered free to state-funded schools across the UK.
The programme links with 11 UN Sustainable Development Goals, as well as with Gatsby Benchmark 4: Linking Curriculum Learning to Careers.
Biodiversity in Schools project
Our popular Biodiversity in Schools Project delivers free class and whole school assemblies and biodiversity improvements across state-funded primary and secondary schools in Devon, Dorset, and South-West Somerset, supporting schools, children and secondary-aged students to learn about, and take, impactful steps that help wildlife and the environment, whilst connecting with nature and learning vital green skills.
Our biodiversity assemblies include plants for pollinators, British wildlife, trees, hedgerows, jobs in plant growth, and careers in biodiversity.
Buzzy Bees project
Our new Buzzy Bees programme educates children in Devon and Somerset about the importance of bees, and delivers in-person activities across state-funded schools which directly help bees to survive and thrive.
This includes a tailored assembly delivered in-person by Little Green Change, which focuses on the importance of bees to
food production, human health, and a healthy ecosystem; the many different types of bee in the UK, and how we can all help these important pollinating insects.
We then lead a bee-friendly activity, which allows children to turn their learning into action, thanks to our project funder, the Norman Family Trust.
Student magazine
Our annual, cross-school, environmental education magazine provides a brilliant opportunity to showcase some of the positive environmental actions taking place across the UK, and some of the brilliant people leading by example.
Published annually, previous editions include student interviews with experts Toby Buckland (pictured), Dr George McGavin, Edwards Morello MP, and Laura Young ('Less Waste Laura'); spotlight features with Chris Packham, Mya-Rose Craig ('Birdgirl') and Mari Copeny ('Little Miss Flint'); and articles written by secondary-aged students at schools across the UK.
Expert speaker talks
We've linked with a wide range of national and local environmental charities, organisations and businesses to bring expert speaker talks directly to secondary-aged students, staff and the public. These cover a range of topics including biodiversity, waste, energy, and human health.
Organisations we have linked with for these talks include the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), Butterfly Conservation, British Dragonfly Society, Good Energy, GoUnpackaged, TRAID, SUEZ, Good Journey, Pesticide Action Network UK, and many more.
Student work experience
Many state-funded secondary schools, especially those in rural areas, struggle to access quality work experience placements for their Year 10 and 12 students.
Little Green Change has a track record of delivering highly rated work experience weeks for schools in East Devon and West Dorset, with in-person time allocated with our Founder and Director, Clare Matheson. We tailor each student's tasks to match their interests and the future career paths they are interested in.
